Rentals in the Fiji Islands

Vacation rentals in the islands of Fiji are popular with international visitors wishing to travel to the South Pacific for their holidays. Fiji is easily accessed by air from many overseas destinations such as USA and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, South East Asia or Europe. It has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world because of its tropical climate, its exotic location and the warmth and friendliness of the Fijian people. There are an increasing number of homes, villas and apartments to rent, for short or long stays in in Fiji.

Short Term Rentals

Because Fiji Islands is such a popular holiday destination, there is a large variety of rental accommodation options. One can rent a room in one of the many popular resorts or hotels or lodges, or one can stay in self contained villa homes in Fiji.

Long Term Rentals

Although long-term rentals may be taken up at the resorts and hotels, this can sometimes be more costly as the operators do not always offer long-term discount vacation packages. Most cost-effective long term rentals occur in the homes and villa market. Locations vary from populated areas such as the capital Suva in the south-eastern part of the main island of Vitl Levu or Nadi and Lautoka situated in the west. There are also a number of villas to rent in Savusavu in Vanua Levu and in Taveuni island also. Both these locations are in the " friendly North " - the islands found to the north-east of the main island.

What to expect with your Villa rental in Fiji

Holiday and vacation rentals are located through out all parts of Fiji, with a large number being located on the many spectacular beaches of the Fiji Islands. The word for house in Fiji is ' vale ' (vah-lay) and this is often used as part of the name. The villas and homes available to tourists are often owned by expatriates who have invested in Fiji and who use their villa for their own annual vacation, but who then lease out their property to travelers for the rest of the year. The villas are often spacious, with verandahs and tropical gardens, most are on or near the beach or have wonderful ocean views. They often come with a few staff who will clean for you, do the garden, and even cook for you if you wish. This type of accommodation is ideal for those looking to stay for months at a time, for families and/or for friends traveling in a small group, especially if you are looking for private, independent accommodation.

Resort Villas

A recent trend in Fiji has been a large growth in villas that are part of a Resort. Many of these fall into the luxury villa category, with modern interiors, entertainment equipment such as DVD's, private plunge pool, and personal spa. Staying at a resort villa also means you are close to the many facilities of the resort offered to their room guests, such as restaurants and bars, Fijian cultural entertainment, activities, and other excellent amenities.
